Abantu Coffee was launched in early 2020 by South African cricketer Rassie van der Dussen and Chris Cardoso.
After some years in the retail space, bringing numerous products to market, they decided to add a coffee range to their portfolio in order to serve the vast network of existing clients as well as the contacts they have built up over the past 20 years in the professional sports industry.
The first Abantu Coffee store was launched in September 2020.
We have a simple model.
Our aim is to use unwanted or open spaces in a creative way to create an environment where people can grab a cup of coffee on the go, sit for a while and enjoy the free Wi-Fi, or have a meeting in a casual outdoor environment.
Our structures are movable and can be transported like a shipping container. It is also built from scratch and thus we can create a space and structure that compliments the surrounding area and brings about a trendy, modern, simplistic industrial feel.
Rassie van der Dussen, an established international cricketer, knows the value of hard work and dedication to get to the top.
The same drive and dedication that took him to the pinnacle of his sport, he puts towards his business pursuits.
Chris Cardoso, a professional coach and sport agent, knows the value of a good cup of coffee early in the morning, having spent the past 20 years rising at the crack of dawn to run the SportSchool of Excellence, Titans Academy, The Sporting Agents and various other businesses.
